“Not to be overly dramatic, but a recent eye exam probably saved me from a massive stroke or death.  Here’s what happened ...

“I went to see Rebecca (Dr. Kiraly-Qualls) for a routine eye exam.  I told her that I was seeing some strange yellow dashes in my right eye.  This led to the photographing of the inside of my eyes.  (I’ve had it done several other times, and I wasn’t keen on this test.)  Rebecca noticed a small white spot on one of the blood vessels in my right eye.  She suspected it was plaque.  I took the photo of my eye to my doctor and he said I should return the next day for Doppler.  They scheduled me for a catheterization.
